Wessex Vale Crematorium has all the answers
When it came to deciding how to raise money for the Dementia UK charity, the team at Wessex Vale Crematorium had all the answers.
They hosted a quiz night which raised nearly £900 for the charity.
The quiz evening was organised in support of Dementia UK’s ‘Time for a Cuppa’ fundraising initiative, and was attended by members of the local funeral profession.
Wessex Vale Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 40 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.
Westerleigh Group prides itself on providing exceptional care to the bereaved, the standards of which are inspected by the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities (FBCA) in England and Wales, and the Scottish Government.
Dementia UK is Westerleigh Group’s corporate charity partner and throughout the year, and over a two-year-period, Westerleigh has a target of raising £300,000.
Wessex Vale Crematorium Manager Lisa Johnson said: “During the evening, funeral professionals showcased their knowledge against a wide range of questions in the quiz, which was hosted by our very own Jemma Andrews.
“Alongside the quiz, a raffle was drawn, which had been open to the public.
“Through the collective effort of everyone involved, a remarkable total of £881 was raised and I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those who attended and contributed to the success of both the quiz and the raffle.
“The money raised will hopefully go a small way in contributing to the valuable work of Dementia UK in supporting those affected by Dementia.
“Congratulations to the winners of the quiz night, ‘6 Man Curry’, who were crowned overall champions and awarded with a trophy for their efforts.”
